Madison River Report Beaverhead River Big Hole River Report

Outstanding

August 9th, 2010

[HyperLink3] Very good water levels over here this year have kept fish and fisherfolk extremely happy. The flow out of Clark Canyon is 770 cfs or so at the moment, perfect for floating and not bad for wading around the accesses either. Hatches have been thick; lots of PMDs on most days, Yellow Sallys, caddis and even a few craneflies. Basically you can take your pick.

Nymphing of course will show you the most fish on any given day. You can spend your time hunting heads or prospecting with a hopper/dropper rig or when it’s cloudy and gray try jigging a streamer through those deep, dark holes.

The fish over here are fat and happy. Landing them is the biggest challenge at this point. Sometimes tiny flies and huge, strong fish in tight quarters can make for some interesting angler footwork.

Stay tuned for continuing River updates!
